Friendship

Sometimes I can sit down, read a challenge and just go to work and get it done. Yet, other times I sit and think, and think and it takes hours. I read the rules for this one yesterday and finally today it clicked.
The challenge is to use an image depicting a friend or family relationship and/or a sentiment focused on relationship (mom, sister, friend, etc).

Here is my card... first the outside then the inside.

Georgia Pacific Bright White Premium Cardstock
Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Pickled Raspberry, Dusty Concord, Tumbled Glass, Mowed Lawn, Tea Dye
AMuse Ink & Paper: Navy
Stamp-N-Stuff: Sahara Pearls embossing powder
Stamps: So Suzy, Virginia Turtle, Lawn Fawn and Simon Says Stamp.
Silhouette Cameo and Big Shot

Lawnscaping Challenge: Too Cute To Spook

Lawnscaping Challenges is doing a "Too Cute To Spook" challenge.
So "scary" Halloween has never been my thing. I don't like horror movies, haunted houses or gore. Most expect that from this candy filled holiday. But I am fine without it. Perfect  Halloween for me is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

So for my 'Too Cute To Spook' card I decided to have a ball. Using the Lawn Fawn "Sweet Smiles" stamp/die sets I used some Black Onyx Versafine ink and stamped on Neenah white cardstock. Once all was stamped I used the big shot to cut out the Gumball Machine and 12 gumballs, colored and colored with Bic Mark-its and Ganzi Tambi Watercolors. I then stamped out 6 cute gumball figures from a Sweet Shop Planner stamp set, colored with both Bic Mark-its and Ganzi Tambi Watercolors.
"Happy Halloween" sentiment is from Virginia Turtle Designs.
This was a fun project and I had a great time making it. I hope you enjoy it as much a I do.

Items used:
Lawn Fawn "Sweet Smiles" stamp/die
Sweet Stamp Shop "Lets Face It" stamps
Virginia Turtle "Happy Halloween"
Versafine Black Onyx
Bic Mark-Its
Ganzi Tambi Watercolors

PINKALICIOUS is the word!!!

PINKALICIOUS

The newest challenge is to unscramble the word PINKALICIOUS to make three or four words to use in or on the project. SO... here we go Pink of course, Lion, Ink, and CIAO... I really had fun with this one.
Using a 3 step build a lion stamp from Stampology and GinaK honey mustard ink stamped the first layer, second layer with Tim Holtz tea dye, and the final AMuse bubblegum. The palm tree is from Hero Arts stamped with GinaK dark chocolate and AMuse grass inks.
I then used contact paper to mask of the top so I could use mowed lawn for the grassy mound. Another section of contact paper was used to mask off the lion and tree while I used tumbled glass for the sky area.
After removing the contact paper I went back in to fill in sections with the inks that were missed, this also created somewhat of a shadow effect.
I then put the final touch on with CIAO, this little piece is from a card making package I received on my birthday cruise this year, during the cardmaking class that my friend and I were the only ones to show up to. I used a project life die to cut out the banner piece, the pink layer is a post-it note that I also used the banner die to cut.

Hope you enjoy the first creation of the day.

Stamping Smiles Tic Tac Toe Challenge

I have to say this was fun. The idea for this challenge is to create a card while winning the game. How do you win the game, 3 in a row of course. I have never played tic tac toe by myself, so I had to improvise. I remade the board and held 2 markers up let them go, once the game was won, that would be the methods used to make my card.
So, yellow won, I would be making my card using Forest Friends, Embossing, and Woodgrain at minimum, I also hit on leaves so figured I would throw them in as well, and to tie it all together I used "Thank You" as the sentiment.
Products used in this project were Woodgrain embossing folder on kraft cardstock. GinaK Dark Chocolate Dye Ink to highlight the texture of the woodgrain.
Tod is my little fox, he is a stamped image from inkadinkadoo, stamped in AMuse Studio Orange pigment ink and embossed using Whispers Orange embossing powder. Tod's background was done with Mowed Lawn and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks.
Copper is my puppy, he is a clear inkadinkadoo stamp that I embossed using Whispers Copper embossing powder, and colored his highlights with a honey brown bic mark-it.
The leaves were cut with Impression Obsession Rake/leaf die on colorbok Autumn Leaves paper.
I used a project life frame die to cut out the window of my card base so that the two friends could see each other.
The ladybug in the corner of the window near Copper is  a sparkle dot from Virginia Turtle Designs.

I really had a great time with this, and look forward to more fun in the coming months :)

Do What You Love

Hi all!  I am posting today to share with you my entry for the latest Lawnscaping Challenge.  The challenge is all about focusing on sentiments

Years ago, I heard the statement, "Do what you love and Love what you do". I never really paid much attention to this, and kept searching for a hobby I was interested in. I have finally found that hobby and that is how THIS card came about.

HP glossy white photo paper, Adirondack alcohol inks in Sail Boat Blue and Watermelon along with Red and Blue McCormick food coloring, blended with Alcohol ink blending solution. Drip and drop all over paper and let dry. I then used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the sentiment out of the photo paper and another white piece of paper and inlaid the sentiment so it would pop. I hope you enjoy.
Cardmaking is what I love and Cardmaking is what I do!!!

Today I am featuring a couple of the wonderful items that can be purchased through Laura's Shop.

I have to say I am so excited to be a guest designer this month. I am featuring a Newton's Nook stamp set, along with the WRMK Fuse Tool. When I began this project two weeks ago I was working on a card, and then decided to change gears wanted to do a shaker but not a card, so let me tell you about my Shaker Bookmark.
I began with Neenah bright white 65lbs card stock and cut it to 3.25" x 5.25". I then used my Sizzix Big Shot and the WRMK Woven embossing folder (coming soon to Laura's Loft). Then I had some inky fun and used Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks by Ranger. From then I decided to use Homemade Splash Spray in Orange, Green and Gold to get the fall colors going. Once I achieved the appropriate mess in my room, I mean colors I wanted I left it to dry.
I then on the same Neenah bright white stamped Newton with sleeping on his pumpkin stack and the wagon from the Wagon Wishes stamp set using VersaColor Black. I then colored with Spectrum Noir Markers and let dry. I then used the scan/cut option with my Silhouette Cameo to cut it out. I then went over the wagon with clear Wink of Stella.
The sentiment "Loads of Wishes" is also from this same "Wagon Wishes" stamp set and heat embossed with Gold embossing powder, cut with a WRMK Quickutz Long Frame die.
Once this was all together I mounted it with Tombow Multi Adhesive on a paper studio red card base.
Once I was finished with all this I used a Fuse 4x6 pouch and enclosed the bookmark, added some of the Autumn Serenade sequin mix and Virginia Turtle Enamel Dots,  and closed it up. I added an eyelet at the top and slipped in the ribbon. This was a very fun project and I hope you enjoy. I do see more bookmarks being created in the near future for this Mimi.

RRBC25 Challenge Entry

This is my first entry for a challenge on Retro Rubber Challenge blog and I am so happy I was introduced here today. Having to use stamps that are at least a year old is pretty easy for someone who only buys twice a year and tends to go with the older sets.

On with my card. The background paper, pumpkin sticker, tree, bats and bird stamps are all from Oriental Trading Co Halloween collections with manufactured dates of 4/13. The skeleton is also an older stamp purchased 8/14 in a craigslist buy. I had fun and heat embossed the skeleton with Whispers White, the tree with Whispers Copper, fence, birds and bats with Whispers Black.  I hope you enjoy my project.

WCMD

Stamp Nation WCMD-Card 6, this was so fun. This is the debossed side of an embossed page where I used Squeezed Lemonade, Spiced Marmalade, and Worn Lipstick distress inks. The turtle is a So Suzy Stamp, which I colored with glitter glue. The sentiment is from Virginia Turtle Designs.

Hop To Stop

If there is one thing my friends know about it, it is that I have a ZERO tolerance for domestic violence. Watching my best friends family suffer through it for many years, taught me to fight for me. Whether the abuse is physical, mental or emotional... it isn't the way love is supposed to be.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month, and I am participating in the Hop to Stop.

My card was made using a distressed look paper, with sentiments from Virginia Turtle Designs. The "sending you" is from the Sunshine Set, and "HOPE" is from the Cancer Sucks set. I used the Tim Holtz Dusty Concorde distress ink and a little ribbon from my stash.

World Card Making Day Weekend Day 1

So, with my friends over at Stamp Nation, I am participating in a weekend long event for World Card Making Day, which is actually tomorrow October 3. Stamp Nation however wanting to include everyone in the world began at 8am EST this morning which was Midnight somewhere in the world, And this will continue until 8am EST on Sunday where it will turn to Oct 4 for the last time. Yes love the time zones :) Through out this weekend each challenge will Celebrate a different Country in the world and something popular there.
Anyway, Day 1 and the first challenge was to use the idea/patterns of a bandana as a theme. Celebrating the good ole USA.

Using a stamp from Amuse Studio and Red/Navy ink I created this background on white Neenah cardstock. The sentiment is using Amuse Navy with a Tim Holtz stamp. This is going to be a "Journey" filled weekend.

Number two took us to Canada and the Hudson Bay Blanket was the inspiration piece. If you notice the texture on the card you will see it is similar to that of the blanket. The stamps used are from Simon Says Stamp, and the ink colors are all from Amuse Studio. I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to add the texture.
Stop number three was Switzerland and the Alps, where the hills are alive with Edelweiss in full bloom. The background was made completely with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and the sentiment is from a stamp set that I unfortunately have no idea what it is called, or who made it. I did heat embossing on the flowers, which came from a stamp set purchased from Oriental Trading.

Stop number four is Scotland. We were asked to use plaid on our card, so here we are. American Crafts patterned paper from the "Hot Cocoa" 12x12 pack. Black card stock for the Scottie and speech bubble are from Co'ordinations. The Scottie is an image cut with my Cameo, the speech bubble is from WRMK Quickutz and the hi is from AMuse Studios.

SCS HYCCT2015 Day 1

WOW, what a fun day today was. October 1 is the kick off day for Split Coast Stampers "Hope You Can Cling To" month long challenge. Today there were three challenges and I did complete each of them.
The theme for this one was "Whatever The Weather", asking us to make a card depicting the weather type we dislike the most. For this card I used AMuse Studio's card base, Recollections "All Season's" 6x6 paper pad, Ranger Texture Paste with Spellbinders "Cascading Dots" to simulate falling snow, Ink It Up Metallic Silver ink for the background and snowflakes on sentiment and Virginia Turtle "Let it go!" sentiment in AMuse Studio Navy ink.

Challenge two was "Lend A Hand", in which we were to use hands in our creation, whether finger painting, using hand/finger prints or hand stamps. So, I used Walter Foster watercolors in Crimson and White blended to make this dark pink, finger painted the background. Once dry I used a Stampin' Up handprint stamp with Versafine Black Onyx ink to make the hand prints. Sentiment is from Virginia Turtle Designs stamped in AMuse Studio's Bubblegum Ink.

This was a fun one. The topic was "Split the Difference" in which we were to craft a background then split it in half with the sentiment. This was So much fun. I started with a sheet of HP Photo paper, and cut it to 4x5.25, I then used my Ranger Watermelon Alcohol Ink and believe it or not Neon Pink Food Coloring. I dropped dots here and there of each color then used Ranger Alcohol Blending Solution to blend the colors together. I then spritzed it with a homemade concoction of water and Folk Art Metallic Antique Gold Acrylic Paint. While that was drying I used my Sizzix Big Shot to cut out the 2 Damask images with a sizzix die, I also sized and cut the sentiment strip out of Pink DCWV Glitter Paper from a 6x6 pad. I put this all together with my ATG Gun on a base of Neenah white cardstock.

If you are still here, THANK YOU. I will be updating each day that I am able to get creations completed. Hope you enjoy!!!
