🎄 Jolly Layers with Sketch 62 – A BYSHC Holiday Card

It’s beginning to look a lot like crafting season! Today’s card was inspired by the latest BYSHC (Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers) sketch challenge, and I had a blast working with Sketch 62 from Crystal. This layout offered the perfect playground for mixing patterns, stamping, and coloring.

🖌️ Supplies I Used:

• Recollections Paper Pad: I pulled a few festive prints from this pad to create layered panels full of texture and charm. These papers are always a go-to for holiday crafting!

• Sketch 62 from Crystal: I followed the sketch closely but added a playful twist to suit my layout. Sketches like this are such a great way to jumpstart creativity.

• Stamped Images from Taylored Expressions: These adorable holiday stamps brought so much personality to the card. I colored them with Olo Markers, which gave me rich, vibrant tones and smooth blending.

✨ Design Details

I flipped the sketch orientation and the proportions to highlight my stamped images. The Recollections papers added a cozy backdrop, while the Olo-colored characters became the stars of the show. A few enamel dots and a touch of glitter finished things off with sparkle and dimension.

To create this project, I used some of my favorite crafty goodies:

• GinaK Designs Give A Gift Die Set – the perfect base for a festive cup design

• Festive Penguins Stamp Set – these little characters bring so much joy!

• Petite Flourish Polyglaze Sheet – foiled with Grass Green for a bold, seasonal pop

• Red Flat Sequins – added as berries to make the cup extra festive and fun

This combo of dies, stamps, foil, and sparkle came together to create a card that’s full of holiday cheer and perfect for the season.

Today’s cardmaking adventure is all about festive flair and creative joy! I dove into the latest BYSHC (Build Your Stash Holiday Cardmakers) sketch challenge using Sketch 62 from Crystal, and it was the perfect layout to spotlight some of my favorite seasonal supplies.

🖌️ The Ingredients

• Recollections Paper Pad: I chose a mix of patterns from this pad to bring in texture and holiday charm. The prints are classic and versatile—great for layering!

• Inkblended Background Panel: I created a soft, wintry blend using distress inks to add depth and atmosphere. It’s a subtle way to make the focal elements pop.

• Warm Wishes Die: This sentiment die from Scrapbook & Cards Today’s Holiday Event is a showstopper. I cut it from ink-blended cardstock for a little extra punch.

🎨 Sketch 62 Magic

Crystal’s Sketch 62 gave me a strong foundation to build on. I followed the layout closely but added my own twist by turning it sideways to better suit my design. It’s amazing how a good sketch can unlock so many creative possibilities!

✨ Final Touches

I finished the card with a glitter cardstock snowdrift nestled between the layers. The result? A warm, heartfelt holiday greeting that’s ready to spread cheer.

Hi there friends and fellow crafters. Today I'm here with my project with Retro Rubber Challenge Blog #235. 

For my project I used Hero Arts Fresh Citrus Bold Print Cling Stamp from 2020 and the sentiment is from Trinity Stamps Zest Wishes from April 2023. I stamped using Gina K Designs Onyx Black ink and colored using Copic Colors. Y02, Y06, Y08, Y18, YG03, B97 and FBG2.  The sentiment is stamped with VersaFine CLAIR Warm Breeze.
